Replacement of Large Meters

Water meters gradually wear out and become less accurate over time. Montecito Water schedules the replacement of its meters every 18 years as part of a regular system maintenance plan.

The District recently replaced all large meters with a new brand of meter that lasts up to 30 years, records water flow more accurately, and costs less to maintain than the old model meter. The remaining meters will be replaced over time.

Fish Plan Approval

The National Marine Fisheries Service recently published its "no jeopardy" biological opinion addressing the impact of the Santa Ynez River Fish Management Plan on endangered steelhead trout.

Based on enhancements from the Santa Ynez River Fish Management Plan, the project "will provide the small Santa Ynez River steelhead population with improved critical habitat conditions in the form of increased migration opportunity and better access to spawning and rearing areas in the watershed below Bradbury Dam, allowing the population to increase in size."
