Transparency

Montecito Water District is proud to have been awarded the District Transparency Certificate of Excellence by the Special District Leadership Foundation in 2024. To receive the award, Montecito Water District demonstrated the completion of essential governance transparency requirements, including conducting ethics training for all board members, properly conducting open and public meetings, and filing financial transactions and compensation reports to the State Controller in a timely manner. SDLF is an independent, non-profit organization formed to promote good governance and best practices among California’s special districts through certification, accreditation, and other recognition programs. This new award extends the District’s prior recognition for Transparency received in 2019.

Montecito Water District is committed to performing all operations in an accountable and transparent way.

The District is a public agency governed by federal, state, and local regulations and an elected Board of Directors. District functions are routinely evaluated and audited.
