We are reimagining the Demonstration Garden in front of the District office to inform and inspire visitors about landscaping and efficient outdoor water use.

Community Partners

Montecito Community Foundation
The District is grateful for a generous grant of $25,000 from the Foundation for this important community effort, and their shared vision for engagement and education. These funds will help with Demonstration Garden construction and signage, for the purpose of creating opportunities for the public to learn about and appreciate sustainable landscaping choices and practices that will conserve critical resources.

Lotusland
The missions of Montecito Water District and Lotusland demonstrate a commonality of purpose with respect to sustainable natural resource management and community engagement. Lotusland is globally reknowned and locally treasured for its magical and sustainably managed gardens. The District is grateful for Lotusland's partnership in this project from the beginning with guidance and collaboration for the Garden design.

The Demonstration Garden is a top priority conservation measure identified in the District’s 2022 Water Use Efficiency Plan. Building community partnership in efficient water use is a primary objective for ensuring water supply reliability in the District’s Strategic Plan.
