Update on the 2/2/19 Storm: Good News

Field inspections were conducted today, no major damage was identified, and there are no impacts to water service reported.
Jameson Lake continues to gain elevation and is now less than 2′ from spill.
MWD Staff will continue to monitor all systems in preparation for more rain in the coming hours/days and will keep customers informed if there is any change in status. (You can follow us on Facebook, and on twitter @MontecitoWater)

Montecito Water District (MWD) has been invited to join the Santa Barbara County Hazard Mitigation Plan, with an annex outlining MWD’s priorities and hazard mitigation strategies.

New Directors & Desalination Update

New Directors Ken Coates, Cori Hayman, and Brian Goebel were sworn in on December 7 and join Floyd Wicks, President and Tobe Plough, Vice President on the five member Board that governs the District. Directors are elected by the public to serve four-year terms. Board Meetings are open to the public and are typically held on the fourth Tuesday of the month, now at a new time: 9:30 a.m. Please Note: Meeting Dates & Times are subject to change; check the online District Calendar for the most up-to-date schedule.

Gratitude for Service of retiring Directors

Each has given a dozen years of service, leading MWD through historic drought and challenging times. On behalf of all of us at the District, we extend our deepest appreciation for their commitment to the agency and the community. Newly elected Board members will be sworn in on December 7, 2018 at 9:30 AM and begin their appointed positions thereafter.

SGMA Update: Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA) status confirmed by DWR

Following adoption of Resolution 2169 at MWD’s Board Meeting / Public Hearing on July 24, 2018, the District’s GSA formation notice was posted with DWR. Pursuant to DWR’s required 90-day review period, the Montecito Water District Groundwater Sustainability Agency was confirmed as the exclusive GSA for the Montecito Groundwater Basin on November 26, 2018. As the District begins to move forward with the development of a Groundwater Sustainability Plan, in accordance with SGMA, more information will be made available.
