On Friday, May 18, the DWR Sustainable Groundwater Management Program released a draft prioritization of groundwater basins as required by the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA). Under the 2018 SGMA Basin Prioritization, 14 basins previously ranked as low- or very-low are now ranked as high- or medium-priority. Included are Montecito Groundwater Basin, now ranked medium-priority, and Carpinteria Groundwater Basin, now ranked high-priority.
